Science fiction is a genre dealing in ideas. Adrian Buckley's pictures are unusual. They veer away from the photographic realism of most current sci-fi and fantasy art and draw on a more abstract and subconscious realm of ambiguous, vertiginous and disturbing imagery.

Depending on the viewer's inclinations, they point towards forbidding, industrialised dystopias or bizarre but compelling alien landscapes and the many wondrous prospects waiting for us "out there".
